I have always been interested in photography from when I first acquired a small Fuji film camera as a teenager.
It was not until I received my first SLR 15 years ago that my passion with photography really began. Despite not having had a camera for some time I compensated by burying my nose in photography books before receiving a camera as a gift from my husband; I enthusiastically put all my reading knowledge into practise. Within three months, I went on to win a digital camera in a photography competition – it was wonderful because this allowed unrestricted experimentation.
Photography was, and still is, a means to capture the beautiful and fun expressions of my children and family; ensuring memorable times are not lost.
Now I enjoy photojournalism, capturing expression and emotion; as well as fine art photography intuitively working to capture images through light and colour that hover between abstract art and design.
I currently teach photojournalism at Whitireia NZ in Wellington, have run workshops in photography and am President of the Porirua based Kapiti Camera Club.
I am available as a commercial photographer; am experienced in project management of photography, editing, layout and design of brochures and advertisements through to print; press releases; proofreading, social media, photo restoration; and photography tutoring.
